Ten years ago, around 2014, I was sitting at the cashier of Dolphin Ade Bookstore. A few minutes earlier, as I was walking down Renmin Road, Ade called me over and asked me to watch the store for a bit while he ran an errand.
Not long after, a group of people came into the store and wandered around browsing. One young woman walked up to the cashier and said to me, "You really look like an old friend of mine named Jason." I was surprised and told her, "I am Jason!" But at the time, I couldn't recognize who she was. She was Sun Yu. She was also in Dali at that time, working at Chai Mi Duo Farm.
We had first met at a tourist spot in Shaoxing around 2005. We added each other on MSN and kept in touch for a while, but when MSN disappeared, we lost contact. Who would have thought that ten years later, we would run into each other like this in Dali.
Now, Sun Yu has been running a flower studio called "Huaxu" for many years. In the meantime, she married Peiyuan in Dali and had a child. Together, they also manage three houses as guesthouse rentals.
Today, a guest named Hailan went to stay at one of her houses in the small courtyard southern area for a short rental. It happened that I mentioned the story of our reunion to the guest, and I thought I'd record this coincidence that I've always found quite remarkable.
