Tuohulasu Grassland

Tuohulasu Grassland, the nearest grassland to Yining. Among paid grasslands, its scenery is not inferior to those famous grasslands where you pay 150 to 200 per person for self-driving. Since very few people go to Tuohulasu Grassland, the experience is very good. On the one-day self-driving trip to Tuohulasu, you will have hotpot at noon. Having hotpot on the grassland surrounded by green is a wonderful thing in life.

Tuohulasu is also a pasture for the Kazakh people. During the self-driving, we encountered herders driving cattle and sheep to migrate more than once. The scene was very spectacular. We got out of the car and chatted with the herder who was moving sheep. There were about 520 sheep in the flock, which looked very spectacular. With his permission, I caught a lamb myself, and I also got to hold a lamb.

Half of the self-driving route in the scenic area is 60 kilometers. Along the way, we stopped and went, and the scenery gradually improved. We passed distant mountains, and not long after, a large hillside was covered with red, yellow, and purple wildflowers. The girls with us started taking photos of each other.

Continuing forward, there was a swing, with the backdrop of distant green mountains and the pasture underfoot. The moment the swing swung, the childhood in my memory came back.

Fortunately, on the other side of the road opposite the swing, we found a group of camels resting. When we walked up to them, we realized that they didn't mind us at all. They remained standing or lying as before, chewing continuously, as if they were eating something very delicious.

It was my first time getting close to a camel, and I discovered that camels have very big eyes. So big that I could clearly see my own reflection in them, like looking in a mirror. I reached out to touch a camel's head and then its face, and it didn't react. The bolder girl sat down and leaned against the camel's belly, and the camel remained the same, as if we didn't exist. The camels were a surprise gift on this trip.

Leaving the swing and the camels, we continued forward to open grassland, eventually reaching the endpoint, Wuxifu Gully. As for why it is called Wuxifu Gully, I still haven't gotten an answer. In Wuxifu Gully, you can see the herders' yurts, and cattle, horses, and sheep on the distant slopes. There is also a canyon. For safety reasons, the road that originally allowed descent to the bottom of the canyon has been sealed off.

Two girls told me about the interesting kids they met. They shared with me. The kids they met in Kazanqi insisted on showing them around. During the tour, the kids said, 'Don't marry foreigners, or you will give birth to Xinjiang kids.'

The two girls are classmates, both working in Hangzhou. On the way, we talked about relationships. One girl named Qianqian said she had an ambiguous relationship. The other girl said she had never been in love, and said to the other one, 'Didn't we agree to stay single for life?'

Life always grows in our own circumstances. I hope one day everyone will reach the same destination and find the life they want.

Jason | Using AI to Create Your Own Mini Program/Website

Two months ago in Chiang Mai, I stumbled upon the chance to start learning how to build mini programs. My AI programming mentor, Wangshen, told me, 'Once you finish your mini program, write a summary report.' Now I've completed the new mini program for Cangshan Hiking Home, and it's already being tested. It not only solves problems I've wanted to address for a while, like adding age tags to filter activities and providing an English version, but it has also introduced new features, such as browsing restaurants, guesthouses, and meeting points on a map for a more intuitive experience, and using AI to provide quite intelligent responses.

Celebrate the Torch Festival in a Nanzhao Royal Clan Village

Over the past two years, we have taken guests to celebrate the Torch Festival in Songhe Village, Eryuan. Together we slaughtered a sheep, and with the whole village, erected a huge torch in the center of the village square. Everyone made their own torches from hemp stalks, and together with the older and younger villagers, we rushed to grab the blessing baba (cakes) from the big torch, passing blessings to each other with fire. Even for me, a native Bai person, these are rare and precious traditional festival experiences. Dali has endless festivals, and I want to experience them more before they fade away. I remember the Torch Festival of my childhood: torches were no longer enough for me. Before the festival, I would tell my dad to prepare a bucket of waste engine oil and diesel, mix them together, and then I would tightly bind cotton and old cloth with rope into a ball (some kids would secretly take cotton from their quilts at home to make it). Finally, I would make an iron wire ball, soak it in the bucket of oil, and secretly take it out every day to look at it, looking forward to having a great time on the day of the Torch Festival. We would compete in the village and by the rice fields to see whose fireball or torch was more impressive. When the torches and fireballs were almost burned out, we would rush home, walk around the potted fruit trees in circles, and say blessing words, hoping they would grow even better in the coming year.
