A Shan, also known as Yang Qiao, is from Hengyang, Hunan. She and A Jin were printmaking classmates and are now married. She often handwrites his poems for publication. Early in their careers, they struggled financially, taking mural commissions. While A Jin is not business-minded, A Shan handles the commercial side. She now leads trips to collect plants like mugwort for making qingtuan and bamboo leaves for zongzi in beautiful locations.
