Apart from planting plums, Brother Mao's family also has his father keeping bees.

Beekeeping is common in Yunnan, a place with flowers all year round; most people only need to make a box (usually from a hollowed-out log), and the bees will build their hive inside.
Brother Mao's family uses a special method: they built a house with yellow earth walls for the bees, with a traditional tiled roof, like a small building. Every time honey is collected, they open the sealed yellow mud opening, and after taking honey, seal it again with wet mud.
