Hu Ning: I am from Gejiu, Yunnan, and came to Dali in 2007. A wild fashion designer, owner of Xi Living Room small bar. Dali is my hometown.
Rainbow Hunter: For the ENOUGH TIME Healing day on December 18, what Yunnan-style infused liquor cocktails have you prepared? Tell us about the ingredients and your creative process.
Hu Ning: I will bring two signature cocktails from Xi Living Room: 'Border Witch' and 'Jianghu Heroes', using vodka, rum, and gin as base spirits. The main theme of the cocktails is the collision of herbs, fruits, and spices! Additionally, guests can enjoy three pure infused liquors: sour papaya infused vodka, wild olive infused rum, and licorice infused gin.
Rainbow Hunter: Everyone feels that Xi Living Room is different from any other bar in Dali. How would you describe this space?
Hu Ning: Xi Living Room is a relaxing space like your own living room. For me, the crazier and more competitive the world becomes, the more I need a place to embrace myself.
Rainbow Hunter: How many Yunnan-style infused spirits have you created so far? What are your thoughts on Yunnan's local infused liquor culture?
Hu Ning: Yunnan people love liquor; it's in our genes to drink and infuse. Over the years, I've been trying different imported spirits infused with new local ingredients. Currently, Xi Living Room sells 28 selected infused liquors, and we will continue to create new ones. Yunnan people are naturally free-spirited and want to try everything in food and drink, so 'everything can be infused' is the essence of Yunnan's infused liquor culture. The biggest influence of traditional drinking and infusing culture on me is its direct impact on creativity and imagination. Art in life is interconnected; making liquor, making clothes, and cooking are no different.
Rainbow Hunter: For first-timers tasting Xi Living Room's signature infused liquors, which ones would you recommend? Any tips for enjoying them comfortably?
Hu Ning: All are selected quality liquors; I recommend every one. Just drink according to your own preference. Of course, drinking straight, on the rocks, or with plain sparkling water is always the simplest and foolproof way.
Rainbow Hunter: People often say that what someone does reflects their personality. What lifestyle and attitude towards drinking does Xi Living Room advocate?
Hu Ning: Drink less, drink wise. Slow down and live!
