Meet Yangjiang – 'February 8th' Knife-Pole Festival

Time:

March 6 to March 8, 2025

Location: Intersection of Maidi Village Market Town, Yangjiang Town, at the resettlement site of the Dayangyun Expressway

Activities: Food tasting, 'Xiao Gongcai' (shredded tribute vegetable) team competition, bonfire singing and dancing, opening ceremony, ethnic intangible cultural heritage performances and 'Learning Power' Q&A event, 'February 8th' climbing knife mountain and descending into fire sea intangible cultural heritage performance, ethnic singing and dancing competition, food and shopping lucky draw, etc.

The Knife-Pole Festival is a traditional festival of the Lisu people, held annually on the eighth day of the second lunar month. It is one of the national intangible cultural heritages. Performers 'climb a mountain of knives' and 'descend into a sea of fire,' showcasing the Lisu people's fearless spirit, symbolizing the elimination of various disasters in the new year.
