Wuwei Temple (A Walk in the Mountains)

Located 5 km from the old town, Wuwei Temple is a peaceful temple (compared to Jizhao Nunnery). It was the royal temple during the Dali Kingdom period, where several emperors became monks. It is said to be the prototype of Tianlong Temple in Jin Yong's novel 'Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils'. Our 'Kuosongping Easy Walk | Fields · Streams · Forests' ends near here. Take a taxi to the parking lot below (landmark: Chenjiabao), slowly walk up the mountain path (20 minutes), this is the best way to visit Wuwei Temple.

Located 5 km from the old town, Wuwei Temple is a peaceful temple (compared to Jizhao Nunnery). It was the royal temple during the Dali Kingdom period, and several emperors became monks here. It is said to be the prototype of the Tianlong Temple in Jin Yong's novel 'Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils'. The endpoint of our 'Kuosongping Easy Walk | Fields · Streams · Forests' is near here.

To visit, take a taxi to the parking lot below (landmark: Chenjiabao) and slowly walk up the mountain path (20 minutes). This is the best way to visit Wuwei Temple. Going directly to the temple is possible, but it greatly reduces the fun.

From the parking lot at the foot of the mountain, follow the stone steps up through a small valley, with the path running along both sides of a stream. In summer, you can bring children to play in the water safely here. Further up, there are ponds and a majestic mountain gate, which you would miss if you went directly to Wuwei Temple.

It will be an interesting little hike through forest and streams.

At the end are two thousand-year-old Tang fir trees and the ancient, rustic Wuwei Temple. It is also a place that locals like to visit.

While taking a walk here, you can also visit Li Zhenhao's Shanxia Nature Studio & Cafe nearby. She has many plant specimens collected from travels around Yunnan, and it is also a cafe open to visitors.

There is also another place to go nearby: Cangshan Nature Photography Museum.
