이 여정에 대해
I am Xiao Jing, and I have been foraging mushrooms in Dali for six years. Recently, I stepped into the forests of Shangri-La to forage mushrooms, and after that I never wanted to go back.
That joy of stepping on soft moss, walking through beautiful forests, and easily returning with a full basket brought me back to the happy days when I first started foraging mushrooms six years ago. At that moment I felt strongly: true mushroom lovers should all come here.
Mushrooms you may encounter in the forest: Lactarius deliciosus, Lactarius hatsudake, various Cortinarius species, Boletus edulis, and various other bolete mushrooms (such as 'jian shou qing'), red waxcap, amethyst deceiver, old man mushroom, chanterelles, various types of red mushrooms, Amanita, Hygrocybe, Hydnum repandum, coral fungi of various colors, and psychedelic Psilocybe mushrooms, among others. The mushrooms that grow change from period to period, so it is not recommended to ask specifically which types are available. Mushrooms are elves of the mountains 🧚♀️; let us enjoy the joy of searching for elves together.
This is a one-day-one-night activity.
If you would like to join only the afternoon itinerary on the second day, you may choose that option.
The activity starts with one person.
The price is the same for adults and children, and there is no group discount.
Suitable for:
Nature lovers who enjoy mushrooms, are easygoing, and prefer quiet places.
People who have been to Dali and want to experience a different landscape from Dali.
To me, Shangri-La is also very fresh. I hope that during our time together, you do not treat me as a tour guide, but rather we explore together ✌️.
Inquiry WeChat:
How to get there: by high-speed train or by plane. After arrival, take a taxi to the homestay, which takes about 30-40 minutes.
Experience details:
Day 1:
After arriving at the homestay in the afternoon and resting, we will go together to the wooden cabin coffee shop run by our friend Cheng Chang in the village to drink butter tea. It is not an ordinary café; it is a space where small horses and dogs roam freely. It is suitable for sitting inside and relaxing for a while, feeling the plateau sunset in the evening. You can also take a walk on the nearby slopes down to the river.
In the evening, we will cook a mushroom dinner together. The mushrooms may be ones I picked that day or ones freshly picked by villagers from the foot of the mountain. I will prepare several kinds of mushrooms, making both chicken soup and stir-fried dishes (there may be matsutake mushrooms, depending on whether the villagers found any that day).
Day 2:
At 8:30, eat breakfast at the homestay.
Take my van to set off into the mountains, collect mushrooms, classify and explain them, clean the edible mushrooms, sit on the ground, and cook and eat them together in the mountains ✌️. I will bring pots, pans, bowls, and chopsticks. If it rains, we will return to the accommodation to cook.
The activity ends around 2:00 pm, and we return to the homestay to disband.
After disbanding, you can take a bus to Shangri-La Old Town and stay for a night. If you have never been there, it is still worth experiencing one night. Compared with other ancient towns, Shangri-La has its own cultural impact. In the evening, the low temperature of the plateau also brings a different summer night feeling. Climbing up the hill behind the old town, you can see the night view, and people circle around the prayer wheel to chant scriptures. Around 8 pm, people gather in the square at Sifang Street to dance Guozhuang; you can join them.
Included in the activity: one night Tibetan-style homestay (two people per room, standard room; if you need a room alone, you can pay the price difference); afternoon tea at Xun Guang She; mushroom dinner; next day breakfast, mushroom foraging experience and mushroom cooking (lunch).
